So just the other day I was sulking about the lack of awareness of Florida fashion shows and today, on a brighter note, I want to introduce you to some of the most talented Florida fashion designers. With it’s year-round gorgeous weather and a very artistic crowd that many don’t know about, our state is perfect for the art of fashion. I’ve been very fortunate to meet and witness the designs of some of the most amazing Florida fashion designers. No, I can’t introduce you to all of them but every now and then I will bring up some designers that I have come across for the first time this year. Each one of these designers have been designing for quite a while and I give them my respects for giving so much of themselves to such a demanding industry!
The Talented Florida Fashion Designers
First of all, let me explain why I wanted to do this. We have so much talent here in Florida; so many wonderful designers who spill their creativity and passion onto every individual piece that they make. From jewelry, to shoes and from headpieces to garments, each piece tells a story and gives us access to the ideas that go through the minds of our designers. Fashion is art. It’s not a vain, materialistic or superficial thing; it’s art.

Visiting various local fashion shows has only reinforced my thoughts on how our Florida fashion designers are bursting with talent in this artform yet are very misunderstood and underappreciated. The steps they take to bring a piece to life are much more than the average consumer can understand. It’s not the same process as when one goes to their favorite clothing chain and picks up a dress that has been mass produced and purchased for $20. Our designers work into the wee hours of the night making sure every button, every stitch and every sequin has been meticulously placed in the correct spot. Keep in mind that most of these designers do every single step themselves. They don’t have dozens of skilled dressmakers ready to sew the pieces for them. Each piece is made with love and dedication by the designer and the final product is so unique that it’s impossible for it to be copied. That, my dear reader, is fashion at it’s finest.
Supporting Florida Fashion Designers
So what was my purpose in writing all of this? We (myself included, of course) need to appreciate art, in this case, fashion in particular. Those of us that love fashion see the value in having a unique sense of style and what better way to obtain this than by supporting our local designers? Wherever you may be, find out who your local fashion designers are and give them the support they need. Think about their skill and dedication. Now, sure we have air conditioning in the sunshine state but just imagine a hot, muggy night and our Florida fashion designers passionately working and hovering over their sewing machines.
