Five Spring 2012 Fashion Trends To Love

With Spring upon the horizon, it has many of us deciding on what to buy and wear for the upcoming warmer months and the latest spring 2012 fashion trends. With trendsetting styles spotted on the runways via New York, London, Milan and Paris, the choices are of course, endless, but five particular trends look like they’re going to take the spotlight from the others. Here are my five favorite spring 2012 fashion trends and how to wear them.

Five Favorite Spring 2012 Fashion Trends

One of the most popular (and easiest) of the last spring trends has returned with plans on sticking around. With perfectly blocked swimwear and caftans from Tommy Hilfiger to bold dresses at Marc Jacobs, color blocking is the go to trend for the least amount of ‘fuss’. Go bold by blocking colorful separates, like turquoise and blues, or play it safe by letting the accessories make the statement with eye popping wedges or simple mini bags.

Bold Spring 2012 Fashion Trends

Another one of the spring 2012 fashion trends that we’ve come to know and love is all things prints, you can hardly turn a corner without catching a glimpse of an eye popping print these days and Spring is going full force with prints. We’re talking head to toe with vibrant patterns like oversized flowers from DVF, camo, geometric shapes from Marni and L.A.M.B, not forgetting to mention full on futuristic inspired prints for those that have grown bored with polka dots and stripes. Matched or mismatch this trend is going to be an eyeful. Not feeling so bold, try pairing a piece with subtle separates, like a blouse or even a skirt. Don’t forget to have fun with this one!

Pantone’s spring 2012 fashion trends prediction was spot on when forecasting that tangerine (tango) was going to be this season’s “It” color. From tangy flapper inspired frocks at Charlotte Ronson to outrageously bold tulle skirts at Christian Siriano, there’s no debate that this is the “Color of the Year”. Not a lover of orange tones? Try a tangerine hued nail color to stay on trend.

Nothing says lady like quite like a peplum, and designers were quick to tap that for inspiration for the Spring 2012 runways. Showing peplums in all forms from gorgeous floor length gowns at Vera Wang to sophisticated separates in various colors and textures at Badgley Mischka and Jason Wu. Give your look a little oomph with an aqua peplum inspired tee over cigarette pants, a fun blazer or maybe a lady like skirt.

Spring 2012 Fashion Trends War: Neon vs Pastel

There has been a great debate on which of these two spring trends is going to be bigger, Neons or Pastels. I say both for different reasons, Neon for accessories and Pastels for dresses and separates. Neon gives the perfect pop to an other wise muted or neutral outfit, try a bright shoe, necklace or even a bold fuchsia lip. For pastels think, (easter) candy colored hues like powder blue, purple and pink cremes and even delicate yellows. Try scalloped edges, slouchy yet girlish chiffon blouses like seen on 3.1 Philip Lim’s runway and even a sky high platform in sea foam. Consider pastels a neutral for pairing opportunities, don’t be afraid to play with texture or even mix and match with other spring 2012 fashion trends.
