In the Beginning
As a little girl, I remember begging my mom to buy me clothes and accessories for my Barbie dolls and the afternoon sewing sessions with my grandma when she taught me how to sew little outfits for them. On rainy days it wouldn’t be strange to see me creating new styles for my paper dolls or gluing beads to my shirts. That, my friends, was just the beginning.
I’d always been a very observant kid and as I got older I started taking less notice of my Barbie’s outfits and more on my own personal style. Thank God I did because the fashion police would’ve locked me up many times for some of the fashion crimes I committed!
Young and Driven
Once I started making my own money, shopping started to become even more fun. I didn’t make a whole lot of money and as much as I wanted to, as a struggling college student, I couldn’t be shopping every time a new trend surfaced. So, I had to get very creative when it came to styling myself. I started mixing and matching pieces and created new outfits that made it seem like I went shopping every other day! I would take pictures of my “creations” and upload them to my profile on a (very well-known) social networking site. After a few encouraging words and years of toiling with the idea, I decided to officially share my love for fashion with the world.
Full Grown Fashionista
Today, as a fully grown fashionista, I spend a lot of time scouring fashion blogs, magazines, videos and getting inspiration from different fashionistas and designers whom I’ve come to know and respect. My vision for fashion and being involved in some way has evolved since that little girl gazing into her grandmas eyes as she carefully thought of her next stitch. I have made it my personal mission to expose the fashion that Florida has been keeping secret for so long. Here in Florida there is much talent to be seen and even more talent to be discovered.
